RFQ AMI System

The City of Junction City, Kansas is issuing a Request For Qualifications (RFQ), to provide an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system and residential meters change out for the City. This project will be a multi-year endeavor starting in 2019 (through 2021). It is the sole intent of the RFQ to determine the most qualified firm to which the City could contract for these services. The City of Junction City (City) is seeking a complete product solution to replace its current manual and touch read meters with an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) technology. The City intends to select AMI technology which minimizes the number of existing meters or meter components that must be replaced and best meets the needs within the City. This may be a multi-year project, subject to budget limitations, and will require the City to use dual meter reading and billing interfaces for up to four years. Any AMI system ultimately obtained must be able to integrate with City’s Current applications (billing, work orders and asset management) and the City’s current Geographic Information System ESRI. It is anticipated due to the transition period inherent in this project to consider AMI systems capable of transmitting meter readings to a hand-held reading device and have the flexibility to easily migrate to radio frequency fixed network collections system as well as allow for expansion.
